  1. I have question about a video you posted. I am thinking about refacing a fireplace here in Atlanta. Your video showed you taking down existing brick and replacing it with backer board. But on the tile floor you applied the mortar directly. I have a tile face. would I need to knock it off and then add the backer board or can I mortar the face with the tile directly?

    Great question!
After thinking about your question, I recall that I have seen this (tile on tile) application done before on bathroom walls.
I think it will work :)) That is providing the walls are straight and solid! If it was me,….. I would go for it!
Check with a couple of local “tile stores or tile installers” about roughing up the surface with some type of a disk grinding pad,
so that it will bond with the new tile material. Also I would use a higher-end bonding adhesive in some type of a thin-set mortar. This is a “chemistry lab in the works”, so check your material and additives.
If you can, let us know how this works out on this same tread. .
